Draft for legal review

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on bagpipper.com. It should be read with our privacy policy. It covers the website only. The Bagpipper desktop app is described in the privacy policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage, do the same job. They are used to make websites work, to remember choices and, on many sites, to track and advertise to visitors.

2. Our approach

bagpipper.com uses no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers. It loads no third-party scripts, and its fonts are hosted by us. The only cookies and storage we use are strictly necessary for the site to work, or are a setting you ask for yourself.

3. What we use

bagpipper_sessionCookieKeeps you signed in on the Store pages. Set only if you sign in. It is HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax.Up to 14 days

bagpipper-themeLocal storageRemembers whether you chose the Light or Dark appearance. Stored only if you make a choice, and never sent to us.Until you clear it

On secure (https) connections, the two cookie names carry the “__Host-” prefix, which means the browser only accepts them from bagpipper.com itself. If you never sign in, no cookies are set at all.

4. Why no consent banner

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), consent is not needed for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for. The two cookies exist only to let you sign in and keep you signed in. The theme setting is a function you request yourself by choosing it. Because we use nothing else, we do not show a cookie banner.

5. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookies, you will not be able to sign in on bagpipper.com. If you clear local storage, the site returns to your system’s default appearance. Browsers differ, so see your browser’s help pages for the steps.

6. Other places your data may be involved

Our servers keep short-lived logs of requests for security and operations, as explained in the privacy policy. The desktop app has its own storage on your computer, also explained there. Third-party websites you visit using Krodium set their own cookies, which are not covered here.

7. Changes and contact

If we change the cookies or storage we use, we will update this page and its date. If you have a question, email [email protected].
