Notifications and the unread badge

Choose what alerts you, reply from a notification and fix alerts that do not appear.

Bagpipper sends native notifications for mail, Vire messages, calls, reminders, tasks, shares and security alerts. They arrive even when the window is closed, because closing the window on a Mac keeps the app running in the menu bar.

Choose what you hear about

In Bagpipper, open Settings and choose the notification settings to pick, app by app, what you want to be told about.

Act from the notification

  • Reply to a Vire message straight from its notification.
  • Answer or decline a call without opening the window.
  • Mark an email as read from its notification.

The badge

The number on the Dock icon is your unread mail in the inbox plus unread Vire messages. A ringing call bounces the Dock icon until you look.

If notifications do not appear

  1. Open System Settings, choose Notifications and find the app in the list.
  2. Make sure Allow notifications is on, and choose Banners or Alerts.
  3. Check that a Focus mode is not silencing it. Focus settings are in System Settings too.
